Focus: Plants and People
How do people use plants, depend on plants? What do plants provide for people? How do we know these things?
Studies in Anthropology develop knowledge of present-day cultures and historical peoples, showing how they interacted with their environment. People have held various views about the causes of environmental phenomena, and have developed numerous clever ways of improving their lives using plant materials. Information and artifacts about Pacific peoples and plants are housed at the Burke_Museum.
Students studying Plants and People often pursue careers or graduate studies in international environmental education and conservation, biomedical research and development, food resources and agribusiness or environmental law.
