Jeff Conn

Jeff Conn

Is an adjunct Assistant Professor at Portland State University.  He received his PhD in 2005 from the University of Pennsylvania. His research interests lie in sociolinguistics, particularly how social factors affect the way we talk.  His interest in phonetics, phonology and historical linguistics combined with his love of sociolinguistics leads him to the investigation of the varieties of English spoken throughout the world, with an emphasis on accent and sound systems.  In addition, another major research interest of Jeff’s is language and gender (investigating the role that various aspects of gender have on language).   More about Dr. Conn on his faculty web site or on his professional web site.
