	From the Dean As the academic year comes to a close, Dean Ana Mari Cauce shares kudos, celebrates commencement, and offers thoughts on how the College has fared during a year marked by deep budget cuts.
	Down on the Farm, a Vibrant Community No need to leave campus for the farm experience. The student-run UW Farm, tucked into a third of an acre on campus, is a working farm with ties to courses in everything from biology to anthropology to American Ethnic Studies.
	A&S Dean's Medalists do Double Duty How much can an A&S undergrad accomplish at the UW? If the College’s 2010 Dean’s Medalists are any indication, the possibilities are nearly limitless. Learn how these top students have made the most of their time as Huskies.
	Two Italian Experiences, One Study Abroad Program To provide more opportunities to interact with locals, French and Italian Studies' program in Italy now includes volunteer work and stays in both Rome and a small village in southern Italy.

	Geography Students Research Bus Routes UW geography students extensively researched neighborhoods along three new RapidRide bus routes in King County, then created a website to share their information with artists creating work for those routes.
	A Royal Dedication for UW's New Center in León Spain’s King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofiá participated in the May dedication of a new UW center housed in León, Spain, along with UW leaders, supporters, and students.
	...And More Royalty, Closer to Home Scandinavian Studies students had the opportunity to dine with royalty when Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden visited the UW in May, joining students for lunch and asking about their interest in all things Swedish.

Research
	Life on Other Planets? Creating Virtual Planets to Search for Answers Is anybody else out there? Are there other planets that resemble Earth? Scientists in the Virtual Planetary Laboratory are looking for clues by creating virtual planets through computer modeling.
	Mental Illness as a Social Construct In Making Minds and Madness, Professor Mikkel Borch-Jacobsen argues that many mental health conditions are as much a social construct as medical diagnosis, with doctors or therapists and their patients creating them together.
