The Return of Stardust
A space capsule will return to Earth in January 2006,
ending a seven-year journey to capture comet dust.
Exploring the Refuge
Through a memorable summer course, students visited the remote National
Arctic Wildlife Refuge and met with experts to discuss the refuge's
history and future.
Cinema Summer
A feature-length film was the focus of a new DXARTS "Digital
Production Studio" course. Most students arrived with little
or no experience, but they quickly proved they had the talent and
determination to make a film.
Ed Viesturs ('81): From Lander Hall to Annapurna
His first climbs were in the Northwest, during his years as
a UW undergraduate. Now Ed Viesturs has become the first American
to successfully summit all 14 of the world's 8,000+ meter peaks
without supplemental oxygen.
