David Horsey to Adress the Freshman Convocation

On Sunday, September 27, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., the University of Washington will welcome over 5,000 entering students, family members and guests at the 26th Annual Freshman Convocation in the Bank of America Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion.
Faculty members will greet the incoming students as they enter the Pavilion and University Provost Phyllis Wise will tell them about many of the exciting educational opportunities that await them - even as freshmen and sophomores. UW President Mark A. Emmert will preside over the ceremony, which will feature an address by two-time Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist David Horsey.
Horsey is the Seattle Post-Intelligencer's editorial cartoonist and columnist. He received his B.A. in Communications from the University of Washington in 1976 where he was editor of the student newspaper, The Daily. As a Rotary Foundation Scholar, Horsey earned an MA in International Relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury (U.K.). He has been named as one of the 100 most notable alumni of the University of Washington in the 20th Century and is a member of the advisory board for the UW College of Arts and Sciences.
