Dean's Medalists
Top graduating undergraduate and graduate students in each division in the College of Arts and Sciences {8 awards}
Eligibility Requirements: Each spring, the College of Arts and Sciences awards the A&S Dean’s Medals to the top graduating undergraduate and graduate student in each division. As in past years, nominees must meet the following criteria:
- • at least one A&S degree/major;
- • a 3.85 GPA or greater;
- • graduated in Summer 2011, Autumn 2011, Winter 2012, or have filed a graduation plan and is planning to
graduate in Spring 2012;
- • if the student has earned a degree, the degree(s) received must be the student’s first undergraduate or graduate degree
Dean's Medalists nominations will automatically be considered for Timeless "Future" Awards, so multiple nominations are not necessary. All 8 selected Dean’s Medal recipients will automatically receive a Timeless “Future” Award.
All nominations will be collected by March 12, 2012 and announced by March 26, 2012.
Future Timeless Awards
Graduating seniors and graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences
{20 awards total – 8 Dean’s Medalists + 12 additional student recipients}
Objective: In celebration of the College of Arts & Science’s 150th anniversary, the Timeless “Future” Awards are designed to honor graduating A&S students who have made outstanding contributions to the Community, University and College through their academic achievements, leadership in athletics, excellence in the arts and service to the greater community. 20 Timeless “Future” Awards will be given: all 8 Dean’s Medal recipients will automatically receive a Timeless “Future” Award and 12 additional students will receive Timeless “Future” Awards to bring the total to 20.
Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for the Timeless Awards, candidates must be enrolled as graduating undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Washington during the 2011-2012 academic year and working towards their first baccalaureate or graduate degree from the College of Arts & Sciences. To be eligible students should have graduated in Summer 2011, Autumn 2011, Winter 2012, or have filed a graduation plan and are planning to graduate in Spring 2012.
Nomination Process: Each department within the College of Arts and Sciences will be invited to nominate graduating seniors and graduate students based on one or more of the following criteria: academic achievement, sportsmanship and leadership in athletics, community service and creativity in the arts. Dean's Medalists nominations will automatically be considered for Timeless "Future" Awards, so multiple nominations are not necessary.
Academics: Based on one or more of the following criteria: high scholastic achievement, scholastic improvement over the course of an academic career, academic achievement in the face of adversity, and experience as a mentor or tutor.
Athletics: Based on overall excellence in performance, leadership, sportsmanship and community service.
Community Service: Based on one or more of the following criteria: strong commitment to public service, outstanding leadership within the community, a commitment to diversity and a demonstrated dedication to continued civic engagement.
Creativity: Based on overall distinction in the arts through scholarship, performance, fine art, design or music.
All nominations will be collected by March 12, 2012 and announced by March 26, 2012.
